HOW TO HELP THE BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY WITH THE 2020 CENSUS
The Brooklyn Public Library and the NYC census offer a number of ways you can help get out the count for the Census.  Brooklyn now has less than 50% response rate, the lowest of the five boroughs. Park Slope is at 59%, but neighboring Sunset Park, for example, is only at 44%; Seagate comes in last at 32%.

IMPORTANT:  If you speak a language in addition to English, please email Amy Mikel at AMikel@bklynlibrary.org

Ways to help:

Phone banking from your home ; your phone number will not be visible. This is the most immediate need.

Postering (multiple languages) especially in undercounted neighborhoods.

In July a campaign will begin to hang multi-language signs on doorknobs, in undercounted neighborhoods (similar to "do not disturb signs in hotels).

In July a postcard writing campaign will begin.

Food distribution sites need people to be trained using ipads; to actually fill out the Census with individuals waiting in line. Protective gear and ipads provided.

And of course your own circle of family and friends may need a nudge. You can post on social media or talk to them the old fashioned way.
