Walking Tour W/Bill: Immigrant History Tour of Chinatown

This is an in person Walking Tour:  Not Zoom!!

We start at the NE corner of Canal and Lafayette, next to the Canal Street subway station (6 Train).

We head south to the “Five Points” and discuss the mid- 1800s immigration of the Irish. In Little Italy, we will investigate what remains of the Italian neighborhood from the late 1800s. Then we will visit the food stalls of Mott Street, lively Chatham Square, and mah-jong players in Columbus Park, all reflecting the two different waves of Chinese immigration.

Masks are required.

Social distancing will be attempted at all times
. However, some of the streets in Chinatown are quite narrow and there will be moments of closer proximity.

Normally, the 2 hour tour would accommodate at least one opportunity to sit. Given the crowdedness of Chinatown and requirements of social distancing, seating cannot be guaranteed, however.
