Presentation By Final Exit Network

Presentation by the Final Exit Network

Whose Life is it, Anyway?
Guest Speaker: Janis Landis

Learn about your end of life rights and choices, and how Final Exit Network (FEN) helps ensure they are honored.

Medical advances have created longer lives and sometimes, ironically, longer and more torturous deaths. New York is currently considering an Oregon style law which allows individuals with a terminal diagnosis (6 months or less to live) to obtain a prescription for medication to end their life. While we support efforts that seek such legislative change, these  laws - even when they are in effect -  have many restrictions and are very limited in scope.

Until there are more compassionate laws in place to protect the right of every adult to a peaceful, dignified death, Final Exit Network will be there to support those who need relief from their suffering.

By attending this discussion, you will have the information you need to protect your end of life rights.

Janis Landis is President of the Final Exit Network. She is Bronx born and raised and currently lives in Queens. Janis is a retired Federal Executive, who formerly worked for the IRS. As she notes: "I find the only subject that scares people more than taxes is death. Just as knowing the tax rules and your legal rights helps, FEN's outreach program will empower people to take control of their end of life fears."
