Political Organizing Workshop with Ben Yee

Please join us Tuesday,May 21  at 10am for a
Civics Workshop by Ben Yee
This is part II
Organizing 101

Organizing 101: Prepares volunteers and new organizers for creating political outcomes. The workshop covers the basics of grassroots organizing, political campaigns and moderated dialogue. It also covers the concept of Theory of Change to help attendees develop and prioritize actions in their local communities.

For the last ten years, Ben Yee's passion has been engaging people in the most local decision making of their own government -- exposing some of the most obscure processes in politics and helping communities elect new representatives.

In the wake of Trump, this work intensified.

Interest in politics surged, and he started teaching civic workshops throughout the five boroughs at activist events, nonprofits, and schools. In the last two years,Ben has spoken to thousands of New Yorkers and where he went, people could always agree on one thing: Our government does everything it can to hide how the system works and keep people in the dark so that powerful electeds, party bosses, and wealthy interests can dictate the future of the city.

Benjamin Yee was a fundraiser and Digital Director for Barack Obama in 2008. He later worked for the NY State Senate’s CIO’s office and good government think tank Reinvent Albany. Politically, Ben has served at every level of the Young Democrats, including VP of the Young Democrats of America. Ben is the founder of ShiftSpark, an online tool for Citizen Lobbying. He is also Secretary of the NY County Democratic Party and State Committeeman for NY’s 66th Assembly District.  He most recently ran for Public Advocate in the 2019 Special Election.

Come hear Benjamin Yee civics lesson that he has been been presenting to groups across the city for the last 2 years.
