A number of our members have expressed an interest in having someone check in with them every day, so that if they were not well someone would know and help them get help.
If you are a member interested in a daily check-in, this meeting is for you.
As our organization has evolved over the past several years, we have all realized that wonderful things can happen when people connect with each other and try to create something useful. We would like to share information about how this might be applied to the check-in idea, which we will call the“member buddy system”.
How a member buddy system might work:
If members wanting a check-in system were introduced to others wanting the same thing, small “buddy groups” of two or more members could be formed. The members in each group would discuss and decide how they wished to conduct a check-in procedure. They might decide to text each other once a day by a certain time, or call each other once a day, or some other plan they devise.
Other aging-in-place organizations and our local police department gave us information that will useful for our buddy groups in planning their system.
What is the next step for GNPS members?
If you are interested in the “buddy system” idea please register to come. This meeting will help us to move forward with this project which will provide peace of mind to a number of our members who live alone.
